The UK is our Home Market

The UK, being our home market, remains of significant importance in our development plans. The SmartParc concept was conceived, developed, and refined here. We have ambitious plans to extend our coverage across the country by building more SmartParc campuses in strategic locations. Our team is in advanced discussions with regional development organisations in the North, South and West of England, as well as in Wales and Scotland. We are also conducting a detailed and robust market analysis of the food processing profile in these regions to make sure our development plans satisfy local needs.

Why UK?

The food and beverage sector is a cornerstone of the UK’s economy. The broader F&B supply chain – including agriculture, manufacturing, and retail – contributes £153.2 billion to UK GVA, or around 6.2% of the entire economy. The manufacturing sub-sector alone accounts for £37.3 billion in GVA or 15% of the total manufacturing industry. This makes food and drink the largest manufacturing sector in the UK – outstripping even automotive and pharmaceutical sectors.

UK food and drink manufacturing has historically generated high yields that outperform several other manufacturing subsectors. For instance, in the past 20 years, investment in the F&B manufacturing sector constitutes only 1/3 of investment in transport and engineering; but F&B manufacturing has returned £9 for every £1 invested in that period, with transport and engineering only returning £5 for every £1. With its export strength, strong positioning in Europe, and higher investment returns, the UK presents an ideal place for domestic and foreign firms looking to expand their operations across the region.

Smartparc is purpose-built to maximise these advantages.
