Compass Group UK & Ireland, one of the UK's leading foodservice companies, is investing in a new state-of-the-art Cuisine Centre at SmartParc SEGRO Derby. The10,000-square-metre facility will produce more than 70 million meals per year for customers across the public and private sector, with operations expected to begin in late 2026.
The new facility will house production lines for Compass' five specialist ranges - Moreish, Medley, Nurture, Steamplicity, and Esteem - delivering over 200 dishes across mains, sides and desserts, each developed in partnership between chefs and dietitians to ensure quality, taste and nutritional value.
The new Cuisine Centre will benefit directly from SmartParc SEGRO Derby's co-location and low-carbon model. The park occupies a 155-acre brownfield regenerated site hosting a shared heat-recovery and cooling network purpose-built for food production. This centralised energy infrastructure - along with other features such as renewable solar power and EV charging services - has been designed to reduce the environmental footprint of modern food manufacturing.
The investment will support Compass Group UK & Ireland's ambition to reach net zero carbon emissions by2040, alongside wider improvements in water conservation, waste reduction, and transport and packaging efficiency. Compass Group intends to explore opportunities to increase regional sourcing as part of the facility's opening, championing British food and promoting community engagement in East Midlands.
